Government of central equatorial state Urges Mining Operators to Obtain Legal Licences

The Government of Central Equatorial State has urged all mining operators to obtain legal mining licences through the Central Equatorial State Mining Authority.
During a press briefing on Tuesday, 6 July the Minister of Information, Honourable Nyarsuk Patrick together with the Minister of Trade and Commissioner-General of the Mining Authority, Honourable Dabe Francis Elisama, briefed the public on new mining laws and regulations.
Honourable Nyarsuk Patrick urged interested miners to register and obtain licences, noting that mining impacts families, communities, and the environment. He said the registration process is designed to be fair, clear, and transparent, with support from the Mining Authority.
He added that licensing is a key step in combating illegal mining and improving accountability, revenue collection, and service delivery to the people of Central Equatorial State.
Honorable Mawa A. Moses highlighted that the provisions of the new mining laws and regulations were the result of collective efforts by the concerned ministries and the committee, which was appointed by His Excellency the Governor.
The committee was tasked with developing this document to regulate all mining activities within Central Equatoria State through the Mining Authority of the state
