Chinese company donates early Christmas gifts to orphans in confident children out of conflict

Chinese company D&B International Co., Ltd on Sunday donated food and non-food items to orphans in Confident Children out of Conflict (CCC) located along Bilpham road in Juba.

Hellen Murshal Boro, the Executive Director of Confident Children out of Conflict thanked the international trading and investment company for the timely support to the orphanage.

The D&B International C0., Ltd donated 30 bags of rice,50 bags of flour, 10 oil carters, 10 carters of beans 10 carters of sugar, 10 carters of biscuits,and 200 carters of water and 100 carters of soda.

Boro told journalists during the donation ceremony that before and even during the conflict in December 2013 and July 2016, the Chinese people were providing them with in-kind support.

“We opened this orphanage 15 years ago and we have been in cooperation with China before South Sudan got independence,” said Boro.

She said that initially they used to get support from the UN Children Fund (UNICEF) but this support dwindled following outbreak of the coronavirus (COVID-19). Boro said that since that time they have been surviving on the support of well-wishers and generous companies to cater for the orphans.

 “We beg from companies and business people in Konyo konyo, they have helped us. The children are enrolled in school, they have no family and we send them to school and after school they will help themselves and they will even take over after we have retired from service,” said Boro.

Boro said that the food donated by D&B International Co., Ltd will cater for feeding of the children until the end of 2023 and beyond January.

Qiu Zhengiang, the manager of D&B International Co., Ltd in South Sudan said company has been developing and growing together with the South Sudan community, adding in the past five years the company has been supplying marketing commodities such as stationeries.

“Since launching it’s business in 2018,D&B International Co., Ltd has received support from the Chinese Embassy, and Chinese enterprises in South Sudan and also the South Sudan community. It’s products have been widely praised by the South Sudanese communities,” said Qiu.

Qiu said he is very impressed and touched by the noble work Hellen Murshal Boro has done at Confident Children out of Conflict.

“I was very much impressed and touched by the noble work she has been devoting herself to, and I understood the urgent need of the nursery for daily necessities,” he said.

“As part of our principle, the company has always adhered to the concept of friendship, mutual assistance and trust between the peoples, and wants to focus on details, providing support to the vulnerable and adding it’s contribution to resilient growth of the local communities,” said Qiu.

Franklin Ji, Secretary General for the Overseas Chinese Association in South Sudan said more Chinese businesses under the association will continue to support orphans and other vulnerable people in South Sudan.

He said the Overseas Chinese Association in South Sudan has donated food and non-food items to several orphanages in the past such as Stone International Orphanage and also donated relief items to people affected by floods.

Franklin said that the donation provided by D&B International Co., Ltd demonstrates the the cordial and strong relations the Chinese people have with South Sudanese people.

“There are a lot of similar China Aid, for example China Medical Team has helped thousands of South Sudanese in the past decade, the Chinese government helped construct modern facilities within Juba Teaching Hospital and also donated  medical equipment to Juba Teaching Hospital,” said Franklin.

“China Aid demonstrates love and it’s a symbol of Chinese and South Sudanese friendship. I hope more members of the Overseas Chinese Association will support vulnerable people like what Qiu Zhengiang of D&B International Co., Ltd has done in order to enhance Chinese-South Sudanese traditional friendship to build a shared future,” he added.

Andrew Akuei, legal advisor of D&B International Co., Ltd called on the South Sudan government to maintain peace and also improve on business environment for foreign investors so that they continue to operate in the country.

“What happened here today is something important for the orphans, so that they can celebrate the festive season with this food and non-food items,” said Akuei.

“I am urging also all the authorities that are concerned with taxation and law enforcement agencies to cooperate with the foreigners so that they continue running business in South Sudan without challenges, because you imagine with the difficulties that they are facing they are still offering  such kind of assistance that is rare,” he added

 Akuei called on the people of South Sudan to cooperate with foreigners and to provide conducive environment for them to continue with their businesses in South Sudan.

 “This is the message I want to send to the government and all authorities here in South Sudan,” he said.

D&B International Co., Ltd is an international trading and investment company, with it’s headquarter in Yi Wu city of China and it has registered branches in Nairobi, Luanda and Juba.

The company started it’s operation in Juba, the capital of South Sudan since 2018, and it’s a member of the Overseas Chinese Association in South Sudan. It is mainly involved in the supply of marketing commodities, including daily necessities, electronics, engineering fittings, auto accessories and stationaries.
