Jonglei police hunts for suspects implicated in Twic East violence
Jonglei State police are searching for suspects implicated in Monday’s violence that left three people killed and three others injured in Twic East County.
“We have not arrested any suspect, we are still searching for them and they will be brought to justice,” Maj.Gen Elia Costa, the police commissioner for Jonglei State told The Juba Echo on Tuesday.
According to police, the killings happened in Lang area on October 15 following conflict between the fishing communities of Hol in Duk Padiet and those of Ayual community of Twic East County.
Costa said that they have plans to deploy police in the island area where the killings took place.
“The reason behind the attack started when youth from Ayual community collected fishing nets from youth from Duk Padiet and burnt them, the youth from Duk become angry and attacked those of Ayual,” he said.
