Two people were killed in road crash as they celebrated the 12th Independence Day anniversary in Aweil South and Aweil North Counties of Northern Bahr El Ghazal State.
Angon Makor, the Director for Traffic police in Northern Bahr El Ghazal State, said that the incident that occurred at Gok Machar area of Aweil North County involved a young girl who was hit by speeding vehicle.
“The young girl identified as Anok was crashed by the driver in Aweil North at Gok-Machar. In Aweil South County we lost Abraham Lat Dut Maduok, we got reports of 7 who sustained serious injuries due to motor accidents,” he told Juba Echo in Aweil town on Monday.
He blamed the death on reckless drivers whom he accused of flouting traffic rules.
Makor also said that some of the victims were drunk.
He appealed to the public to observe traffic rules.
Makor disclosed that the driver suspected to have caused the death of the young girl in Gok Machar is currently in detention.
