Christian Agency for Peace and Development (CAPaD) in partnership with Norwegian People’s Aid (NPA) organized annual cultural peace festival in Bor.
Annual cultural Peace Festival is an event organized annually in Jonglei State to bring all the ethnic communities in Jonglei to showcase their cultural talents through dances, sport and wrestling. This festival promotes unity and cohesion among the different communities in Jonglei State, the festival was opened by Hon. Mabil Makuack Dau, State minister of culture, youth and Sport. In his remarks, he appreciate NPA for the support and urge to continue partnering with CAPaD for viable activities perceived in his state and urge all citizens of Jonglei to unite and co-exist “we don’t flight our brothers to solve problems”. The minister urges the donor community to empower national NGO such that these festivals reach to the grassroots “Boma” level. Over 1000 people from different backgrounds attended the festival with poem presentation from Royal Junior Primary school.
The civic wars in the Republic of South Sudan have played a negative impact on cultures in Jonglei State since communities are divided along tribal line and creation of more states and administrative areas isolates communities within Jonglei State to share their cultural diversities, CAPaD seek to address this issue through Advocacy for youth rights in Jonglei state.
Nancy Mark, NPA representative urges the communities of Jonglei and the country at large to keep spreading messages of peace across different platforms as she reiterate NPA’s readiness to continue supporting Christian Agency for Peace and Development (CAPaD) and the community.
