16 -year -old boy detained over defiling girl in Northern Bahr El Ghazal

Police in Aweil North County have detained a 16-year-old boy suspected of defiling 8 year- old girl.
Garang Mathiang Kuach, the police criminal investigation officer attached to the case told Juba Echo on Tuesday that the suspect, Ajor Ngong Ngong defiled his victim while she was at her parent’s home located in Matwic village of Pamaat payam.
“We are investigating the matter but the victim is still in the hospital, so we need both sides to get the full story. The information was tipped to us and we had to bring the perpetrator to police,” Mathiang said.
The suspect was being held at Gok-machar, the county headquarters pending full investigation by the police.
Medics in Aweil hospital confirmed the incident, saying the survivor of the defilement case is still being treated.
Marach Ngong Ngong, the health officer in Aweil hospital said the victim was recovering.
“We don’t know whether there is damage to her uterus as she is still young, but treatment is going well. If there is no damage on her private parts then well and good,” Ngong said.
In 2022, a Sudanese man in Aweil town defiled a young girl whom he later on strangled to death and dumbed her body in the pit latrine.
The perpetrator was sentenced to death by the court in Aweil.
