Bentiu Marks International Day of Peace With Call for Unity and Nonviolence

Communities in Bentiu, Unity State, have marked the International Day of Peace with a joint celebration calling for greater unity, peaceful coexistence and nonviolent approaches to resolving conflicts.

The event was organized by Nonviolent Peaceforce in partnership with the Union of Journalists of South Sudan, Alliance for Action Aid, the Ministry of Information and Communication, and the Ministry of Peace Building and Social Welfare.

The gathering brought together community members, civil society representatives, government officials, journalists and other stakeholders to raise awareness about the importance of peace, dialogue and social cohesion.

Organizers reaffirmed their commitment to supporting peacebuilding initiatives and strengthening cooperation among communities in Unity State.

The commemoration also highlighted the role of collective action in promoting tolerance and peaceful conflict resolution, with participants emphasizing that building lasting peace requires the involvement of communities and institutions.

The International Day of Peace is observed annually to promote peace, nonviolence and ceasefires around the world.
