Juba County Urges Communities to Take Ownership of Cleanliness Campaign

Juba County authorities have called on communities to take greater responsibility for keeping their surroundings clean as officials joined residents in a general cleaning campaign in Kuburi Haboba and Rejaf Payam on Saturday 19th September 2026.

The campaign, led by Juba County Executive Director Alfateh Morgani Ajal on behalf of County Commissioner Eng. Samuel Emiliano Wani Pitia, is part of a statewide cleanliness initiative championed by Central Equatoria State Gov. Emmanuel Adil Anthony Wani.

Addressing participants during the exercise, county officials said maintaining clean communities cannot be achieved by government alone and requires active participation from residents, businesses, community leaders and institutions.

Officials encouraged residents to take responsibility for their immediate surroundings by properly disposing of waste, keeping public spaces clean and supporting community-led sanitation activities.

The campaign also seeks to raise awareness of the link between a clean environment, public health and the well-being of communities across Juba County.

Morgani said continued community participation would be essential to sustaining the cleanliness initiative beyond the weekly exercises.

He urged residents to view the campaign not simply as a government program but as a shared community responsibility requiring everyone to contribute.

The general cleaning campaign will continue every Saturday across Juba County, with residents encouraged to work with local authorities to maintain clean, green and healthy communities.

Juba County authorities reaffirmed their commitment to supporting the state government’s cleanliness initiative while strengthening community-based efforts to improve sanitation, environmental protection and public health.

The county also called on community leaders, youth groups, women’s associations, businesses and households to mobilize their members and actively participate in the weekly cleaning exercises.

The campaign in Kuburi Haboba and Rejaf Payam is part of broader efforts to strengthen community ownership of sanitation and encourage residents to make cleanliness a regular part of daily life.
