South Sudan, IOM Conclude Workshop on National Diaspora Policy

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, in partnership with the International Organization for Migration (IOM), has concluded a three-day workshop on South Sudan’s National Diaspora Policy.

The workshop, held under the theme “Facilitating Diaspora Engagement for Development in South Sudan,” brought together stakeholders to discuss ways to strengthen the government’s engagement with South Sudanese communities abroad.

The National Diaspora Policy provides a framework for enhancing collaboration between the government and the South Sudanese diaspora, recognizing communities abroad as important partners in the country’s development.

Closing the workshop, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Amb. Akuei Bona Malwal thanked participants and partners for their contributions.

Malwal highlighted the important role of the South Sudanese diaspora in national development and called for stronger collaboration to harness their knowledge, skills, networks and resources for the benefit of the country.

The workshop is part of efforts to establish a coordinated approach to diaspora engagement and maximize the contribution of South Sudanese abroad to national development.
