South Sudan has launched a training workshop aimed at strengthening technical capacity for boundary demarcation using modern surveying technology.

The workshop was opened Monday by Agnes Adlino Orifa Oswaha, undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, and David Nailo Mayo, chair of the South Sudan Technical Committee on Delimitation and Demarcation.

Supported by the German development agency GIZ, the training focuses on the use of Leica GS18 T RTK technology for boundary surveying and demarcation.

Fifteen surveyors from South Sudan’s 10 states are taking part in the workshop, which is designed to improve the accuracy and efficiency of boundary demarcation activities.

Oswaha thanked GIZ for its continued support in building South Sudan’s technical capacity and said such initiatives contribute to efforts to promote peace, security and sustainable development.

The training is expected to enhance the technical skills of surveyors involved in boundary-related work and support more accurate demarcation processes across the country.
