ECONOMIC REFORM COMMITTEE ARRIVES IN NIMULE TO BOOST BORDER REVENUE COLLECTION

A high-level Government Committee on Economic Reform has arrived in Nimule, Eastern Equatoria State, to assess operations at South Sudan’s busiest border crossing and identify practical measures to strengthen revenue collection.

The visit is part of the government’s broader efforts to improve economic management, seal revenue leakages, and enhance efficiency in customs and border operations. The committee is expected to engage with customs officials, immigration authorities, security agencies, and other stakeholders to evaluate existing systems and recommend reforms that will maximize domestic revenue.

Nimule Border serves as South Sudan’s main gateway for imports and exports, making it a critical source of national revenue. Authorities believe that improving coordination, transparency, and accountability at the border will contribute significantly to the country’s economic recovery and sustainable development.

The committee is expected to present its findings and recommendations to the national government after completing its assessment.
