Pressure Group Demands Proper Use Of South Sudan Oil Revenue

South Sudan and its stakeholders in the oil sector must work together to ensure revenue generated from the oil resource is channeled towards the development of other sectors, the Chairperson of the Civil Society Coalition for Natural Resources, Charles Onak Judo said.

Speaking to journalists at the oil and power conference in the capital Juba on Tuesday, Onak urged the government, investors and other stakeholders to ensure the oil revenue helps infrastructure development.

He urged for transparency and accountability in line with the use of natural resources in the country.

Onak called for the safety of oil workers, urging the government and other stakeholders to ensure proper health, safety and environmental management system and demanded for adherence to international investment best practices to uphold the rights of the communities and citizens of South Sudan during exploration, extraction and development in the oil sector without prejudices. 

“There must be conducive environment for business and this can only be provided by the parties in the business,” he said.
