Police hunts for two women after dumping two babies in drainage channel in Bentiu
Two women residing in Bentiu internally displaced persons camp on Wednesday aborted two babies whom they dumped in the drainage channel
The Chairperson the high-level committee for Bentiu IDP camp, John Tot Riek said that two unidentified women dumped the two babies into the drainage channel in Bentiu IDP camp, adding that one baby in sector two Block 6 was found alive.
“We took the baby to Medicines Sans Frontiers (MSF) Holland Hospital for medical treatment,” Tot told Juba Echo on Wednesday.
He added that he ordered police criminals investigation department to search for the two suspects.
Tot said that people who practice abortion are victims of unwanted pregnancy and adultery.
Col. James Tut Chuol, the joint police force commander in Bentiu IDP camp said they are conducting door to door search for the two unidentified women.
The protection of civilian site has recorded more than 21 cases of illegal abortion from 2016 to 2023.
