Aweil hospital limits number of visitors amid rise in theft
Authorities in Aweil civil hospital have moved to limit hours for people visiting sick relatives following complaints of theft of properties.
Dr. Santino Jan Tong, the director of Aweil civil hospital Director said they have discovered some criminals take advantage of the visitation hours to steal properties within the patient wards.
“The gatekeepers or watchmen allow them but later on they run away with properties of patients. These incidents have occurred more than twice when able-bodied young men run away with items of the patients including phones,” Tong told Journalists in Aweil town on Monday during press conference.
He said they are going to employ different strategy in monitoring the patients.
“We will be allowing one care-giver and if the patient is brought by a cyclist or driver from the outskirts while in emergency, we will allow them to stay outside the gate and allow one care-giver in,” Tong said.
