We do not want to close your shop with padlocks, pay taxes-acting mayor warns

The new acting mayor Simon Martin Wani has warned business personnel to pay taxes on time to avoid consequences against them and for a timely service delivery.
Martin said there is a low tax payment in recent time, as aggression by city council of closing shops has been stopped such that relationship between the two parties improves.
“These days the taxes/ the revenue is going down because we stopped the closure of the shop to improve the relationship with the business people but it is turning against us,” he said.
He said,“We don’t want them to force us again to start using padlocks to close the shop. We want the people to cooperate voluntarily because payment of taxes is an obligation.”
