The newly opened Northern Bahr El Ghazal State University last week commenced registration of first intake of students.
Ustaz Stephen Chol Ajuong, a member of the organizing committee overseeing the process, said they briefed on Sunday the Governor of Northern Bhar El Ghazal State, Tong Aken Ngor about the registration process.
Chol said the national ministry of higher education staff approved the budget for 12 lecturers at the university.
He disclosed that the main university library was ready for use, adding that it’s fully powered by solar system.
The Commissioner of Aweil West County, Majok Piol Mayen deposited more than 6 million South Sudanese Pounds SSP in the university account as contributions from his chiefs and other members of his county.
On his part, Governor Tong Aken Ngor directed the administration of the university to speed up the process of recruiting the lecturers.
Aken appreciated the public for fundraising for the university.
Northern Bahr El Ghazal State University is the first ever institution of higher learning to be established in greater Bahr El Ghazal region after years of persuading the national government to establish one.
The university lacks a wall fence and proper halls for lectures.
