Health officials in Aweil Center County decry lack of ambulance

The clinical officer of Bar-mayen payam in Aweil Center County of Northern Bahr El Gazal State has said that they are struggling to facilitate patients in critical condition for further treatment in Aweil town.
Paul Maker Malual, said on Sunday that Aweil Center County lacks an ambulance to transport patients in critical condition for treatment in neighboring Aweil town.
“The situation of the patients is bad. Some children and pregnant mothers are always seriously ill, and Aweil town is far from here. Bar-mayen is a PHCC and we don’t have an ambulance,” he told Juba Echo in an interview.
“We do call the County health director in Aroyo to contact Aweil hospital for an ambulance and that is the only way we get the ambulance,” he added.
Maker said that malaria is one the prevalent diseases which h he blamed on people sleeping without mosquito nets.
Malual disclosed that pneumonia and anemia cases among women and children are also prevalent in the area.
