The Governor of Central Equatoria State, Augustino Jadalla Kamilo Wani, on Thursday chaired the State’s 11th ordinary Council of Ministers’ meeting at the State Secretariat, Juba.
Governor Jadalla directed the cabinet ministers to carry out massive awareness across the State about mpox with focus on signs, symptoms and preventive measures of the disease. The directive came following discussion of a number of issues during the meeting which focused on mpox, communication of the Governor and flood mitigation efforts.
Governor Jadalla also called for vigilance on the disease.
Speaking shortly after the Council of Ministers’ meeting, Hon. Gerard Francis, the Acting State Minister of Information and Communication, said that several resolutions were passed during the meeting.
Hon. Francis said there are no confirmed mpox cases yet in the State and urged the public to be calm. He assured of the State government’s readiness and commitment through the relevant authorities in responding to any alert.
The minister said another issue of concern discussed during the meeting was issue of growing challenges resulting from increasing floods in the parts of the State. He said the Cabinet has “directed for more action” to all State relevant stakeholders to ensure efforts are stepped up on mitigating the challenges caused by the floods.
The cabinet also noted with great concern the recent killings in Jebel Ladu and others, said Hon. Francis, adding that the cabinet has directed for necessary actions.
He said the cabinet also discussed a memo presented by the State Minister of Roads and Bridges on draft Framework Policy (2024 – 2028) aiming at guiding the operation of the Ministry. Following debate on the memo, the Minister has been directed to incorporate additional contents into the framework.
