EURO 2024 UPDATES

Italy to knockouts after 1-1 draw against Croatia

Croatia sorely needed a victory to stay in the competition, while Italy only needed a point to advance. With only two points from their first three games, Croatia will need to wait for further outcomes to determine whether they can rank among the top third teams.

Luka Modrić’s first-half goal in the second half almost put Croatia through as the runners-up, but Mattia Zaccani finished a fiercely competitive match by sweeping a beautiful effort inside the far post in the 98th minute to break Croatian hearts.

Spain completes perfect group stage

Spain reaffirmed their nine official games played against Albania as a 100% winning streak.

Spain appeared to be headed for a commanding lead for the whole of the first half, but Olmo and Mikel Merino in particular squandered excellent opportunities, and Albania didn’t register a shot until the 45th minute.

With a 1-0 victory over Albania, Spain maintained their winning record at Euro 2024 despite nearly changing their starting lineup.

In the Round of 16, Spain will play a team that finished third. Albania has been taken out of the running.

In a lackluster display, England prevails in Group C.

Playing out a dull 0-0 draw against Slovenia that showed little to no development from the opening two games of the tournament, England won Group C at Euro 2024 in the most unimpressive way possible on Tuesday.

After each team recorded three ties, the results put Denmark and Slovenia tied on points, goal differential, and goals scored. As a result, the second place finish was determined by a disciplinary record based on the quantity of yellow cards received.

Netherlands vs. Austria: The Underdogs Win

In addition to his assist in the previous game’s 3-1 victory over Poland, Sabitzer’s goal secured Austria’s victory over the Netherlands in the Euro 2024, securing the top spot in Group D.

Having emerged victorious in Group D, Austria will now play the runners-up in Group F. Based on that group, they should have a good chance of advancing to the quarterfinals. Turkey is now ranked second in Group F, but Czech Republic or Georgia could overtake them tonight.

Meanwhile finishing in third place and being officially recognized as one of the top four third-place teams, Koeman’s team will play England in the round of 16 since Gareth Southgate’s team secured top spot in Group C.
