South Sudanese advised to elect leaders wisely as election nears

South Sudanese have been advised to participate in the upcoming general election so that they can elect their leaders democratically.

This was said Monday by the Minister for Presidential Affairs, Joseph  Bangasi Bakasoro during the election of the Chairperson of the South Sudan Basketball Federation in Juba, the capital of South Sudan.

 Bakasoro said that citizens need to be vigilant and wise to elect productive and active leaders into government.

South Sudan is expected to hold general election in December 2024 at the end of the current transitional period.

Bakasoro said that the country has reached a critical period for people to make the right choices of representatives within their various constituencies.

Former NBA star Luol Deng was elected Chairperson of the South Sudan Basketball Federation.

Bakasoro urged the leadership of the different sports disciplines to shun tribalism and focus on the discipline and success of sports in the country.

The South Sudan Basketball Federation carried out election of the executive board.

The event was graced by top politicians, supporters, sportsmen and women.
