Authorities in Northern Bahr El Ghazal state on Tuesday discovered a hanging body of wildlife 1st Lt. Garang Garang Ruay in a thick forest.
The Director for the State Ministry of Wildlife Conservation and Tourism John Reuben on Wednesday said that they suspect Ruay to have been kidnapped from his house by unscrupulous people whom he had a disagreement with.
Reuben said that the deceased’s wife had on January 25/ 2024 opened case with police after her husband went missing only to be found dead later on.
“The wife of Ruay came to us on January 25 and reported that men in uniform came to the house and whisked him away on a motorcycle,” Reuben said.
“The footprints of the motorcycle have been found at the scene where Ruay was found hanging on a trunk of a tree,” he added.
Reuben said that the deceased’s wife has opened case of murder with the police in Aweil.
Similar incidents of disappearances have been reported in Rum-tiit area where police discovered human remains of people believed to have been kidnapped and killed.
Reuben assured that they are working hard to apprehend the culprits.
