The Norwegian Special Envoy for South Sudan and Sudan Jon Anton Johnson discussed the challenges facing South Sudan and the sub-region.
Jon added that the meeting as well touched on the big events, including the elections in 2024, as stipulated in the peace accord, to allow South Sudanese choose leaders of their choice.
He stressed in the challenges and stated that they had a long-standing relationship with the South Sudanese and they have supported the people of South Sudan in their struggle for better governance and for basic rights.
The specialist continues and stated that in their meetings with the Authorities as Norway, they stress the worries they have for this country, the suffering of the people, the humanitarian challenges and the high level of violence.
On Thursday, President Kiir expresses commitment to implementation of the peace agreement adding that assured the Norwegian government of his commitment to implement all the provisions of the Peace Agreement, to pave way for the conduct of elections next year.
The President made the assurance during his meeting with the Norwegian Special Envoy for South Sudan and Sudan Jon Anton Johnson in Juba on Thursday.
Foreign Minister Dr. James Pitia Morgan said the government would in the coming days establish the electoral institutions to prepare the country for the polls.-
