Newly refurbished Rubkona County health office reopens since 2013

The newly refurbished Rubkona County health office reopened on Monday after undergoing renovation for two months.

The office was destroyed due to shelling following outbreak of conflict in December 2013.

Jal Kuol Malow, Rubkona County Health Director promised during the reopening ceremony to work with the Unity state ministry of health and humanitarian health partners to combat measles outbreak in Rubkona County.

The ceremony was attended by officials from the state ministry of health representatives and Welthungerhilfe organization, and traditional leaders.

“As we stand firm to reopen this office, I really appreciate Welthungerhilfe organization as our main partner for renovating this office, it was not easy to renovate this office because it got damaged since outbreak of fighting in 2013,” Malow said.

“As we reopen this office, our main threat is measles with more than 1,000 recorded cases of measles,” he added.

For his part, Bany Makon Chany, the director for pharmaceutical services in the state ministry of health, said they are currently coordinating with Rubkona health officials to treat measles among children aged 5-10.
