Majority of South Sudanese are in support of adapting the federal system of governance, according to the national minister of federal affairs Losuba Wango, who confirmed this during three-day workshop, held in Bentiu town of Unity state.
Wango said the workshop that commenced on Monday aimed to disseminate information on federalism.
“As soon as we are done with popular consultation on federal system of government, the government of South Sudan will agree to implement it because citizens demand it to be included in the permanent constitution,” Wango said.
The workshop was attended by the state government officials, civil society, traders, faith- based groups and community leaders.
“Today, I am very happy to address this big attendance that shows that citizens like federal system of government in unity state, we will continue to disseminate information about federalism in all ten states and three administration areas,” Wango said.
Unity state deputy governor, Tor Tunguar Kueiguong thanked the national ministry of federal affairs for disseminating federalism for the first time in the state.
The civic education and information dissemination on federal system of governance was held under the theme “holding together for a stronger union toward federalism”.
