South Sudan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation has launched it’s official website to reinforce diplomatic engagement with its regional and international counterparts.

Deng Dau Deng, the Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, said the website will help the ministry staff to interact with the public and the diaspora.

“We aim to foster open communication, facilitate collaboration and strengthen our diplomatic relation,” he said during the launch at Pyramid Hotel on Monday.

Deng added: “I am proud to present this diplomatic journal for the ministry of foreign affairs and international cooperation, both of which will play crucial role in enhancing our diplomatic efforts and promoting transparency”.

Samuel Doe, the Country Representative for the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), said South Sudan needs to go digital in order to interact efficiently with the rest of the world.

He assured that UNDP remains committed to support the transitional government of national unity.

“The ministry of foreign affairs sits at the forefront of international relation and diplomacy, having an active foreign affairs ministry website will allow the rest of the world to interact with South Sudan,” Doe said.

Barnaba Marial Benjamin, the Minister of Presidential Affairs, said the website will present accurate online information as opposed to the content that tarnishes the image of the country.

“Your website is very important strategically for this country, there is much wrong information online, and we must frog leap. This is where we can compete with the rest of the world, we wish progress in this manner so that we move forward,” Benjamin said.
