The presidential advisor on National Security, Tut Gatluak Manime has urged foreign traders (Muslim) to follow Quran teachings of not eating from cheating (Al-haram) citing exaggeration of prices by foreign traders.
Tut was speaking after Eid-Al-Adha prayer ceremony in the capital Juba, Wednesday.
Foreign traders make the highest percentage of business personnel in South Sudan with majority from East and horn of Africa since independence.
“Sudanese people are the biggest community controlling the market. In every part of South Sudan you are there. Do not increase prices in the market,” he said.
Tut said the situation is not yet promising.
“Work within the law of the country,” he said adding that the government has given time to foreign traders to learn of the environment and follow government orders as this would bring everlasting peace in the country.
“We do not want to come to you, we want to give you time. You need to know the environment you come from,” he said.
