Authorities in Aweil town municipal council have started rehabilitating feeder roads to ease access in the town.
Zecharia Dut Mou, the Mayor of Aweil town, said on Saturday they are rehabilitating 51 km of roads particularly in Hai Mozibin, Naifasha, Malou-Awer, and Deng Nhial suburbs.
Dut said that the road construction being undertaken by GMC Company is funded by Africa Resource Corporation (ARC).
“We are heading towards Kuom Bridge, we have put culverts that drain water to in swampy areas and this work will boost the local economy in the targeted areas,” he disclosed.
Dut said the rehabilitation work is expected to finish within this month.
Adut Deng, a resident of Naifasha suburb, said she is relieved to see roads under repair.
“This work is great. The local supplies will be reaching us and these are services we have been yearning for,” Deng said.
