Four people have been killed in a fire that gutted buildings in the Panameth residential area of Aweil town.
Police said the fire which broke out on Sunday evening was started by someone with one suspect already in police custody.
Philip Madut Tong, Aweil town Police Commissioner told Juba Echo on Tuesday that three children including an elderly woman were killed in the fire.
“The suspect Ngor Ngor is now in police custody in Aweil East County and will be transferred to Aweil town for investigation,” Madut said.
Madut said the fire brigade arrived on the scene late and was unable to put out the fire.
He appealed to residents to avoid leaving children alone in homes.
