The National Revenue Authority (NRA) said on Wednesday that it collected 124 billion South Sudanese Pounds by the period of March 2023.

Dr. Patrick Kennedy Mugoya, Commissioner General of NRA said during the opening of the four-day first performance review workshop held in Juba that they were tasked to collect last year 117.2 billion pounds.

He revealed that in January this year they collected SSP 16.5 billion and SSP 15.6 billion in February.

Mugoya disclosed that they have surpassed non-oil revenue collection target of SSP 117.2 billion.

“We committed ourselves in our strategic plan to collect 150 billion pounds. We have already surpassed the target that was given to us by the government,” he said.

Established in 2018, the NRA is mandated to assess, collect, administer, and enforce laws relating to taxation and revenues.

The government established the NRA to help reduce dependency on oil revenues, strengthen the non-oil revenue sector and strengthen expenditure control required to achieve short-term fiscal austerity objectives.
