A new solar-powered water supply system installed by South Sudan Red Cross is set to benefit over 2,000 people in Terekeka County of Central Equatoria State.
Pascal Ladu, South Sudan Red Cross Media Public Relations Coordinator said the water supply system will provide clean drinking water to both people and animals.
“This water yard is not only serving people, animals can come around to drink but also people can cultivate vegetables,” Ladu told The Juba Echo on Friday.
He said the water facility will solve problem of water shortage in Terekeka County.
“Terekeka is one of the areas that have been not having clean drinking water but the presence of this water yard now helps the community to get clean drinking water,” Ladu said.
Emmanuel Ryomot Awan, Executive Director of Terekeka County hailed Red Cross for installing the water facility.
“For us here in Terekeka, the Red Cross is like a mother and we the communities are the children,” Ryomot said.
In November 2020, the South Sudan Red Crossed handed over a clean water facility to the Jelle residential area in Nimule town of Eastern Equatoria State.
The SSRC and the Netherlands Red Cross also launched phase two of the project that was being implemented in Nimule.
