Pope appeal to end conflict in South Sudan

Pope Francis assured the internally Displaced person of his willingness to enable the country gain peace.

South Sudan have been going through different phases of wars and communal conflicts, climate change which has led to loss of lives, displacement of people and hunger across the nation.

“That’s why I want to renew my forceful and heartfelt appeal to end all conflicts and resume peace process in a serious way, so that violence can end and the people can return to living in dignity. They future cannot lie in refugee camps.” Citing a need for peace to prevail,”

He further called on the young people of the country to start a new chapter of their lives by peacefully co-existing with each other.

“May you, young people of different ethnicity, write pages of the life of this Republic, you must be the ones to rewrite its history as a history of peace,” he called.

Last week, the government announced its readiness to sit on dialogue table with the holdout groups an alliance of the South Sudan Opposition Movement Alliance after it had put out from the Rome peace talk at St Egidio citing the opposition groups were using the negotiation time to prepare for war against the government.

The coming of the Pope could be the hope of the country as the government leaders have shown their stand on the implementation of peace.
