Koch County police on Friday announced that they failed to arrest a 39-year- old suspect in the murder of 10 between Koch and Kuit village.
Brigadier Tut Wal Dang, the director of Koch police said the suspect Kuic Mayiek Pey the mastermind of the road ambush in November in Gany Payam narrowly escaped arrest, adding two of his accomplices have been apprehended.
“He is wanted person for killing 10 people including the wife of his brother whom he suspected of being behind the death of his brother,” Wal told The Juba Echo.
“They were 17 people who launched the attack at the beginning, so we managed to arrest two of them and we are still looking for the 15 people,” he added.
Wal said the 15 suspects are believed to be hiding at the border between Koch County and Guit County.
Daniel Deng Mayiel, the spokesperson of the Koch County Commissioner, said that the family of Kuic Majiek Pey is tired of paying death compensation for those killed by their relative.
“Kuic Majiek Pey is not just a suspect, he is a well-known criminal he even killed the wife of his brother last year,” said Deng.
Last month the Koch County Commissioner ordered 150 cattle to be paid as death compensation to the family of any person killed.
“The killer (Majiek) will soon be apprehended, we will trace his location,” said Deng.
