The transitional government of national unity has said it will begin tarmacking the road from Bor town to Ayod in Jonglie State during the upcoming dry season.
The Minister of Roads and Bridges Simon Mijok Mijak revealed this on Saturday at Bari Community Centre in Juba.
“The transitional government through the ministry of roads and bridges is focusing on road development, the tarmac road was set to reach Ayod in Jonglei by May last year but despite the economic challenges, we will work hard to reach Ayod in Jonglei state during the incoming dry season,” said Mijak.
Mijak said that roads are catalyst for economic development in the country which in turn improves livelihoods of citizens.
The minister last week disclosed that they are planning to pave 126,000 km of road network across the country before the end of the transition period in 2025.
The roads are to be built by Africa Resource Corporation (ARC) in partnership with Thai Group.
