Unity State Governor Josep Ngeun Monytuil has suspended Panyijiar County commissioner Gabriel Majok from duty.
Puot Thik Bakuony, Unity Governor Press secretary confirmed Tuesday the suspension of the commissioner but did not divulge details for his suspension to Juba Echo.
“Panyijiar county commissioner was suspended due to unknown several reasons, and he is suspended from his duties and responsibilities until further notice,” said Bakuony.
Majok was recently accused of arresting Sudan People’s Liberation Movement-in Government (SPLM-IG) party interim-chairman in Panyijiar County.
Majok’s suspension has already been condemned by the opposition Sudan People’s Liberation Movement- in opposition (SPLM-IO) chairperson and Unity State Deputy Governor Tor Tunguar.
Tunguar said that Governor Monytuil did not consult his party before suspending Majok.
“Suspending Panyijiar county commissioner is a gross violation of the revitalized peace agreement,” said Tunguar.
