The public has been urged to be calm amid intermittent power cuts as power distributor Juba Electricity Distribution Company (JEDCO) undertakes routine maintenance service on it’s power generators.
“This is a partial power shedding, actually we want to maintain the power generation, this is a planned annual service of the generation, we are not going to plug out,” said Jospeh Thomas, the Public Relation and Marketing manager for JEDCO in an interview with the Juba Echo on Friday in Juba.
He said the ongoing maintenance service will be for 35 days.
Thomas disclosed in this period they will be having limited megawatt for their clients.
He said some suburbs of Juba will experience power cuts not exceeding five hours on daily basis.
“The maximum will be 5 hours, we do not even like to go there as per our plan, the minimum is one hour and the maximum is three hours in a week, maybe sometimes you maybe affected twice or even once,” said Thomas.
JEDCO is the main distributor of power generated along the Nile River by Ezra Construction Company Limited.
The 100-megawatts (MW) power plant was opened in November 2019 to supply electricity to Juba and surrounding areas.
