President Salva Kiir Mayardit on Saturday pointed that his government will hold those who have killed or will kill others in the sporadic inter-communal violence in the world`s youngest country accountable.
While addressing the citizens of the country during the Independence Day celebration today Mr. President emphasized that they can never allow what he described as irrational killing of both civilians and military personnel to continue and declared that justice be served to the relatives and those whose lives have been lost through this worthless violence.
Mr. President added that, the gains they have made in the implementation of the Revitalized Peace Agreement are being eroded by inter-communal violence across the country especially in places like Western Equatoria, Eastern Equatoria, Central Equatoria and Warrap States due to inter-communal violence
“The most discouraging of these all is the recent violence in Tonj North where many military personnel some at senior positions lost their lives at the hands of our owned civilian populationon whom they vowed to protect. At personal level, I deeply regret their death and I convey my heartfelt condolences to their families and loved ones,” Kirr sobbed.
He finalized by letting known to the gathering that his government will not pursue justice for those who have been killed by the delinquent people in collective manner but will handle it in a case-by-case basis.
