South Sudan’s government delegation comprising of the Presidential Advisor on National Security Affairs Tut Gatluak, Director Generals of Internal Security Bureau, General Akol Koor, Military Intelligence Senior officials among other Government officials is holding face-to-face talks with a group that broke away from opposition leader turned first Vice President Riek Machar.
The group from the Sudan People’s Liberation Army In Opposition (SPLM/A-IO) declared their break-away from a place in northern Upper Nile State known as Kit-Gwang hence getting the name “The SPLM/A-IO Kit-Gwang” faction
The SPLA/IO Kit-Gwang group is led by former army chief of Riek Machar’s group, General Simon Gatwech Dual.
General Simon expressed willingness and commitment to dialogue with the Government to reach an agreement towards peace and stability, there is however, no representatives from Riek Machar’s group is in the Khartoum talks.
