South Sudan were pooled alongside the Eastern African country for the qualifiers during the draw conducted by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) back in May in Cairo, Egypt.
The winner on aggregate of the two-legged fixture will advance to the final round of the qualifiers, with 11 teams bidding to earn a place to participate at the AWCON in Morocco in July 2022.And Kenya showed intent of making a return to the continental stage after seeing off their rivals in the first leg played in Nairobi.
Kenyan head coach Charles Okere named a strong team for the clash, with Neddy Okoth making the starting XI which included Jentrix Shikangwa and skipper Mwanahalima Adam. But it was Neddy’s inclusion that made a lot of difference as she scored four goals to put Starlets on course to a huge win. It took Neddy just 33 minutes to score the first three goals, netting the opener inside one minute of action. She doubled Kenya’s advantage two minutes later before completing her hat trick in the 33rd minute. Shikangwa put the game beyond the visitors six minutes later as Kenya headed into the break the better side. The second half of the match saw Okere’s charges pick from where they left, with Mwanahalima scoring twice as Neddy scored her fourth, before Shikangwa completing her brace to make it 8-0 for Kenya.
