At least eight (8) South Sudanese players and a technical staff have tested positive of coronavirus in Doha, Qatar ahead of their qualifiers game on June 21, the South Sudan Football Association has confirmed.
The Bright Stars flew Juba City on Friday to Qatar for final qualifiers match against Jordan in the preliminary matches before the Arab 2021 Cupcompetition in November.
“South Sudan National Team (Bright Star) and the Delegation on the Mission to represent South Sudan in Doha underwent COVID-19 test, at least eight of the players and one technical staff were tested positive and immediately isolated as per the precautionary measures applied,” the statement partly reads.
However, the about six more players who were contacts of the infected footballers were immediately put under surveillance.

Nevertheless, the Delegation is expected toundergo another test today Sunday before the tomorrow’s match.
The 43 man contingent arrived in Doha, Qatar on Saturday June 19, 2021 prepared for the match but landed on unexpected occurrence.
But the National team is optimistic to playing the match tomorrow, according to the South Sudan Football Association’s page.
